Mr. Kevin Haag was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and attended Catholic Church while growing up. Located in “Surf City” in the early seventies, “Jesus Freaks“ and hippies traveled the Pacific Coast Highway, and many of his peers became born again Christians. While attending an after school Bible study conducted by Campus Crusade for Christ, he became interested in Bible stories. One of the leaders shared a Bible called “The Way“, a modern translation of the New Testament Bible which he read cover to cover. His Baptist girlfriend witnessed to him frequently on their dates. After resisting her appeals to make Jesus his Lord and Savior, she challenged him by she stating, “No decision is a decision; it means you will not go to heaven!” which troubled Kevin for weeks. Eventually Kevin and his girlfriend attended a movie which turned out to be a Billy Graham Evangelistic movie and at 12 o’clock midnight under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, Kevin knew he had to respond. He went forward that night…and connected with a mentor who routinely followed up with him to be sure he was growing in his faith. This event began his lifelong journey with the Lord. While attending a religion class at California State University, he decided he needed to examine other world religions and in doing so determined that Christianity was the best choice. His spiritual journey was progressing. Kevin and his girlfriend began attending a Presbyterian Church and it proved quite different from the services he had experienced in the Catholic Church as they preached messages that urged one to be a doer of God‘s word. His Christian walk continued to grow.
In time Kevin proposed and married his girlfriend. They had three daughters and one son. Navigating the challenges of marriage, children, developing his own landscaping company while attending college and growing in his faith, they attended Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. They were thrilled by how God was bringing hundreds to a saving faith in Jesus. Their approach allowed for extensive study of the Bible verse by verse and eventually a first rate Bible education was obtained. Later, Kevin served at Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) as a phone prayer partner and served as a men’s ministry leader. In prayer seeking God‘s direction, he received an inner witness of Matthew 24:26: “Blessed is that servant whom the master will find doing when he returns”. With this, he accepted a two year program of study and began serving as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Voyage in Costa Mesa.
In 2019, Kevin and his wife Julie moved to Lake Santeetlah, NC and attend Robbinsville First Baptist Church. He continues to facilitate a Men’s Accountability Group via Zoom with men around the country. They love to edify, strengthen, and encourage both the saved and unsaved, continue to study the word, and share the gospel with folks wherever they go. The Lord has blessed them richly, and they look forward to the next adventure to which the good Lord calls them.
Mr. Haag’s Favorite Scripture:
Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you to be strong and a good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord, your God is with you wherever you go.”
